The Austin Police Department has launched the Community Connect website, hosted on the City of Austin Open Data Portal. This platform serves as a centralized hub for information on various sectors of the Austin Police Department, providing community members and analysts with timely, reliable, and well-documented data on policing activities.

APD Crime Statistics Dashboard

  1. Choose your sector from the "Select APD Sector" dropdown to filter by sector.
  2. Use the "Select Year", "Select Month", "Select Council District", and "Select NIBRS Category" dropdowns to filter further.
  3. A tooltip is a rectangular box containing helpful information that appears when hovering over the visualizations on our interactive dashboard. Additionally, you can hover over each question mark at the top right corner of each visualization to learn more about the displayed data.

Crime In Your Area

  1. Click on the "Crime Search" magnifying glass icon below.
  2. Type an address into the "Start typing an Address here..." box.
  3. Choose a Distance to buffer, Start Date, and End Date.
  4. Click the Submit button.

Find Your City Council District

  1. Navigate to the Council District Map.
  2. Click on the blue I want to... button.
  3. Select "Find My Council District."
  4. Type an address into the "Start typing an address" box.
  5. Click the Submit button.

Find Your APD District Representative

  1. Click on the Find my DR tab at the top of the page.
  2. Type an address into the "Find Address or Street" box.

APD Datasets & Reports

The Austin Police Department provides up-to-date police reports and datasets to the public online. These reports include Compstat reports, as well as the NIBRS dataset and interactive dashboard.

APD Incident Reports Database

In most cases, the public portion of police reports can be obtained from this database. To purchase a copy of the public portion of a police report, contact the Report Sales Unit at 512-974-5499.
