The Austin Public Works and Austin Transportation departments constructed a sidewalk on Austin Woods Drive between Mesa Drive and Tallwood Drive. The project was completed in August 2022.

A sidewalk was built on the north side of the street, partially within the existing street space and partially behind the existing curb. Parking was removed on the south side of the street, and the street and sidewalk width is narrowed in some areas to preserve trees as needed.  View a fact sheet about the new parking conditions along Austin Woods Dr.

As part of the 2016 Mobility Bond, Austin Public Works’ Safe Routes to School Program is identifying projects to help children safely and easily travel to and from Hill Elementary School. For the past five years, Safe Routes to School has received input from the Hill Elementary School community about safety concerns along Austin Woods Drive. The Safe Routes to School team conducted a walk audit of infrastructure near Hill Elementary in October 2017.  Following the audit, a sidewalk along Austin Woods was identified as a high-priority project in the Safe Routes to School Infrastructure Report for District 10. Three other Safe Routes to School projects identified in the report have already been built at Hill Elementary.

Construction began in June 2022 and was completed in August 2022.
