The Austin Transportation Department (ATD) is seeking to better understand the safety and mobility needs for people using Cameron Road (51st Street to Rundberg Lane) and Dessau Road (Rundberg Lane to Parmer Lane).

Public input is informing the development of a proposal for street design changes on Cameron and Dessau roads. New crash data available to staff in 2020 through the City of Austin's Vision Zero program is also being evaluated to inform the proposal. Staff anticipates bringing a proposal to the community by fall 2020 for review and comment.

La opinión pública informa el desarrollo de una propuesta para cambios de diseño de calles en Cameron y Dessau Roads. ATD held a listening session on November 21, 2019 to gather input on safety and mobility needs on Cameron Road and Dessau Road. A public comment period was open from November 21st through December 22nd.

Public input will be used to evaluate opportunities for improvements. After reviewing community input, ATD anticipates bringing a proposal back to the community in 2020.

Cameron Road and Dessau Road (51st Street and Parmer Lane) provides access to the Walnut Creek Greenbelt, commercial centers, jobs, schools, recreation, and neighborhoods. Safety and mobility concerns were previously identified by the community on the Vision Zero Input Map, as well as part of the Pedestrian Safety Action Plan citywide planning process and the Walk and Bike Talks bikeway network prioritization process.

ATD is beginning a community conversation to better understand community concerns that may be addressed with near-term solutions funded through the 2016 Mobility Bond and 2018 Bond Pedestrian Crossing program.
