Number of New Downtown Block Faces with "Great Streets" Improvements Completed Per Year
This measure tracks the Planning and Zoning Department’s progress toward improving the quality of downtown streets and sidewalks and transforming the public right-of-ways into great public spaces. The current Great Streets Development Program boundaries are 11th Street on the north, Cesar Chavez Street on the south, IH-35 on the east, and Lamar Boulevard. on the west. Great Streets standards include: sidewalks 18 or 32 feet in width with street furnishings such as benches, bike racks and trash receptacles and street trees that are spaced so that there is a contiguous canopy at maturity to provide shade.
This measure is a count of the number of block faces which have been inspected and accepted as Great Streets improvements.
