Boggy Creek Trail is located in East Austin. This trail is part of the Red Line and the Eastlink trail systems, and provides key connections to downtown, parks, transit, and major attractions.

Austin's First Dual-track Trail Now Complete!

In partnership with the Parks and Recreation DepartmentAustin Public Works and Austin Transportation construction of the new dual-track trail from Rosewood Avenue to E. 12th Street is now complete! The new dual-track connects to the existing upper portion of Boggy Creek Trail, located between E 12th St. and the  Capital Metro MLK Jr. Station.

Boggy Creek Trail System Limits & Overview

The Boggy Creek Urban Trail extends from the Capital Metro MLK Jr. Station to Rosewood Ave; south of Rosewood Ave. the trail is composed of crushed granite. 
Capital Metro MLK Jr. Station to E. 12th Street: an urban trail provides a comfortable space for people walking or biking to enjoy. This portion of Boggy Creek Trail opened to the public in July 2019. 
E. 12th Street to Rosewood Ave: the urban trail becomes a dual-track trail, which allows for separation of people walking from people biking and using other wheeled devices. This portion of the trail opened to the public in Feb. 2021. 

The trail is part of two larger planned trail systems: the EastLink Trail and Red Line Trail. It is also part of Austin Transportation's All Ages and Abilities Bicycle Network

Project Background

The Boggy Creek Trail is among several high priority projects recommended in the City’s 2014 Urban Trails Plan. The plan envisions 47 additional miles of high priority trails to be built over the next two decades.  
Funding for this project comes from the Local Mobility Program of the 2016 Mobility Bond

Public Engagement
Public Meeting - July 10, 2019
In summer 2019, Austin Transportation and Public Works Department hosted a public meeting to share proposed changes to Boggy Creek Trail from Rosewood Avenue to E 12th Street. 
The project team received and reviewed over 100 survey responses about the proposal. Over 75% of survey responses were comfortable with the changes proposed for Boggy Creek Trail.
