AHA MISSION LIFELINE GOLD LEVEL AGENCY AWARD
Austin-Travis County EMS was
awarded the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Mission Lifeline: Gold Level
Agency Award again in 2016 for excellence in STEMI systems of care. The
Gold Level Award, AHA’s highest level award, acknowledges Austin- Travis County
EMS for attaining 75% or higher composite adherence to each applicable Mission
Lifeline EMS Achievement Measure for consecutive 24 month intervals to improve
the quality of care for STEMI (ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction) patients.
Collaboration among pre-hospital
and hospital providers is at the essence of Mission: Lifeline. The American
Heart Association recognizes the vitally important role that EMS providers
serve in ensuring a strong Mission: Lifeline STEMI System of Care. As an agency
that provides access to 12 lead ECG, identifies pre-hospital STEMI,
communicates with hospitals and adheres to protocols derived from ACC/AHA STEMI
Guidelines, Austin-Travis County EMS has had a major impact on the quality of
care and improved survival and outcome of STEMI patients in Austin and Travis
County.
CAAS Accreditation
Austin-Travis County EMS
(ATCEMS) was awarded Re-Accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS)in
2016. CAAS is the nationally recognized, independent Commission that established
a comprehensive series of standards and best practices for the ambulance
service industry. CAAS Accreditation signifies that Austin-Travis County EMS
has met the requirements for the “gold standard” determined to be essential in
a modern emergency medical services provider. We joined an elite group of only
158 EMS provider agencies in the United States that have achieved CAAS
Accreditation.
Accredited Center of Excellence (ACE) with the International Academies of Emergency Dispatchers (IAED)
Austin-Travis County EMS was
Re-Accredited as a Center of Excellence (ACE) with the International Academies
of Emergency Dispatchers (IAED) in 2016. Accredited Centers share a
common goal of improving public care and maximizing the efficiency of 911
systems while providing superior, up-to-date public care and efficient resource
utilization to achieve maximum results in emergency situations.

Best of EMS Websites
Austin-Travis County EMS was
awarded the “Best of EMS & EMT Sites Award” by Pacific Medical Training
(PMT) in 2016. PMT states “The Austin-Travis County EMS website (http://www.atcems.org) is full of
helpful information, safety tips, workshop dates and more. Providing services
beyond emergency medical response, Austin-Travis County EMS makes an effort to
be accessible to the community. The website includes a wealth of safety
information for how to respond to medical emergencies and how to be safe during
each season of the year. Additionally, workshops for first response skills,
trainings, safety checks and more are listed for the public to attend or
contact the EMS team to schedule the relevant event.” PMT added “We fully
appreciate and can understand the time and commitment it takes to maintain a
website and continue to provide current content easily accessible to the sites
viewers.”
NAMI Austin John and Kitty
Holman Award
The Austin-Travis County
Community Health Paramedic Program and Expanded Mobile Crisis Outreach Team
(EMCOT) recently received NAMI Austin's John and Kitty Holman Award in
recognition of the team's efforts to create and promote a safer environment for
people living with mental illness. EMCOT works closely with the Austin Police
Department, Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services, and the Travis
County Sheriff's Office to help people who are having a mental health crisis in
the community.
