Description

Austin Energy invests about $80 million dollars annually, on average, on capital improvements for the electric system. Austin Energy has established long-term goals that the average number of power outages per customer not exceed 0.80 per year (SAIFI); that the average duration of power outages not exceed 60 minutes (SAIDI); and that the 12-month rolling average of the number of transmission line faults per 100 miles not exceed 3.00 (SATLPI).
Terminology:
SAIFI (System Average Interruption Frequency Index): A common measure of the frequency of power outages on the distribution system.
SAIDI (System Average Interruption Duration Index): A common measure of the duration of power outages on the distribution system.
SATLPI (System Average Transmission Line Performance Index): A measure of voltage sags or line faults on the transmission system.
